About Me

Hey! My name is Ingrid. Welcome!

I chose the word DISCOVER, in Discover Counselling Services because I want you to know that I am committed to supporting you in our work together, that you may discover tools, skills and strategies to work through your challenges even when the climb up that mountain you are facing seems too difficult or the stairs too steep.

Returning to post secondary education as an adult, embarking on a career change and as a mother of two young adults who continue to teach me a thing or two every day, life has been a series of changes and growth opportunities that have motivated my determination to adapt, take different steps and cope.

I bring that drive into my work with you. I want you to feel heard, respected, and accepted in order to build a trusting relationship where you can explore and reflect on all aspects of your right-here, right-now circumstance.

In addition to my academic knowledge, I bring extensive training and experience from working with youth, young adults, adults and families from highly diverse backgrounds and identities across private and community mental health agencies, schools, and hospitals. My practice has expanded to working with diverse couples.

Part of my time is spent volunteering in the justice system, to help keep non-violent, school-aged youth offenders out of jail. On a yearly basis, I keep current in my field by completing professional development courses, certification programs and workshops.

Quality time spent with family and friends, a flavourful cup of coffee and participating in physical activity are a few of the things that I am passionate about. A daily mindfulness practice gives me the ability to remain conscious and pay attention when life happens. Therefore, when I am about to treat myself to that first cup of cappuccino in the morning, I am not distracted. I embrace that moment on purpose.
